HOUND HOSTELS AND KITTY CASSASfive pet hotel destinations to discoverUnforgettable getaways should never be a pain to plan, even more so when considering a destination that suites the needs of both the human family, and that of our furry counterparts. Southern Africa is truly a land of magic and beauty, with its temperate climate and natural wonders it provides an abundance of holiday venues that cater for people and their pets!
The Western Cape has long been revered for its breathtaking landscape that combines some of the finest hospitality services, set amidst unparalleled scenery. While Cape town itself is home to a number of establishments and attractions that would satisfy the human needs, it is the pet friendly gems that have in recent years become evidently more important for vacationers, looking to bring their beloved fur buddy along for a well deserved break.
We've endeavored to showcase five accommodation venues situated in the Western Cape that will most certainly have you and your fur bud barking to stay a bit longer!
Our first venue offers a uniquely refreshing experience to visitors and pets. Riverstone Lodge is nestled in Wolseley, a quaint little town that can be found located along the upper Breede River Valley region, in the Western Cape. Offering all the modern amenities one would expect when decompressing during your time off! The venue also boasts a “Very pet friendly environment “ that will keep the four legged family members in purrfect luxury during your stay.

The converted double shipping container boasts both style and comfort indoors, whilst various outdoor facilities take full advantage of the ambient climate. Clean décor along subtle flowing neutral tones is echoed in the “White theme" while the soft lighting throughout, gives one a sense of welcoming warmth. With its stunning sunset view over table mountain or a quiet seat alongside the dam on the property, this venue is definitely one of our favourites!
Our second pet friendly venue is situated on one of the historic landmark locations in Hermanus Western Cape. The old harbour area is rich in history, and is a cultural tapestry set in what many have described as “Paradise”. The Harbour House Hotel offers pets owners the opportunity to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful establishment confident that pets are at ease alongside. Visitors can expect to be treated with the creature comforts of home whilst feeling completely spoilt at the hotel. Numerous activities are available just a bark away from the hotel including whale watching sites, and nature reserves. Guests may be required to confirm on additional charges should your paw pals be joining in for some well deserved R and R!
Camps Bay is home to our third pet friendly getaway venue. The Twelve Apostles 5-star Boutique Hotel and Spa is set at the foot of the well known namesake mountain range. With its picture purrfect panoramic view of the escarpment coupled with romance novel seascapes, the hotel offers owners and pets even more than superb accommodation with the exclusive pleasure of an award winning spa. Wine and dine in any one of three distinguished restaurants, or unwind in the sixteen seated cinema at the hotel for your leisure. The hotels private rooms are fully equipped, and other services such as the twenty four hour room service provide the finesse to a venue that outclasses many ,purely on its location. Pet menus are available at the Leopard Bar and just to be sure that they have your buddy covered, the hotel offers pet beds and other amenities for your convenience.

Last but not at all least is The Stanford Old Mill Hotel situated in the lush and serene town of Stanford Western Cape. The mill was originally constructed in the 1800's and served a much needed role for the local communities. The subsequent restoration was undertaken in 2015 by Barry and Adrianna Jones, and what has transpired can quite literally be called “A little piece of paradise”. The guest house offers visitors and their pets all the comforts and amenities one would expect from a up class establishment, whilst still maintaining its deep ties to a rich history. The private garden provides one with a sense of serenity and the cozy deck along with braai facilities tops the winning mix. The pet policy allows for small, well socialized dogs, however prior arrangements are required.
Leaving your pet behind whilst on holiday is for many simply not an option. Be sure to ask about the pet policy whenever making travel or accommodation enquires and check on the services offered,
specifically for pets, as many establishments have restrictions in terms of access and pet size.

We hope you and your fur babies check out some of these incredible pet friendly venues and be sure to have a barking good time!
